The Pawsitive Pals Project

I believe that love isn’t just between people, but extends to everything around us. As an East Asian, I have a strong belief in spirituality. Every relationship in life carries with it the imprints of the past and the tasks that need to be completed. According to Buddhism, the closeness between humans and dogs or cats is not merely due to a physical relationship but also a spiritual connection.

Growing up, I’ve always had a special affection for animals, but it wasn’t until I adopted a stray dog that my bond with them deepened. The dog was small, weak, and covered in mud when I found him near my house. There was something in his eyes—full of fear and hope—that stirred something within me. I took him in, bathed him, and after a while, he began to trust me. Watching him transform from a timid, frightened animal into a joyful, energetic companion filled me with a sense of purpose and joy. But just as our bond grew stronger, I was faced with a heartbreaking reality. Despite my care and love, his health began to decline. After numerous visits to the vet, I learned that he had underlying health issues that couldn’t be treated. Soon after, he passed away in my arms. His loss was devastating, but it also made me more determined to make a difference in the lives of animals. This experience led me to an animal-loving club – The Pawsitive Pals, where I found a community of people committed to protecting and caring for animals.

For me, “The Pawsitive Pals” is a learning journey, where every interaction – whether caring for rescued animals or participating in awareness-raising campaigns – helps me to better understand the extent to which these animals depend on us and, in turn, how we benefit from them. Being part of this project has shown me the importance of collective effort. Together, we’ve organized events, volunteered at shelters, and helped raise awareness about animal care. Additionally, we’ve found homes for over 60 stray dogs and cats. I realize that Pawsitive Pals is not only a community for animal lovers but also a place where we come together to create a kinder and more compassionate world, through every small act of care.
