BookCircle App Project
My father often said, ‘Young people today hold phones instead of knowledge.’ He meant that in his generation, books and newspapers were the primary sources of information. As a young person born and raised in an era of rapid technological advancements, I agree that phones have become an indispensable part of our lives. However, I believe that knowledge is not confined to the pages of traditional books. With the development of technology, we now have new tools to access information, such as e-books.
Inspired by this idea, I developed the “BookCircle” app. I believe that knowledge is cyclical; some people know one thing, others know another, and when we talk, knowledge is transferred from one person to another. This mutual learning creates a cycle that enhances knowledge. That’s the meaning behind the name “BookCircle”. Beyond sharing knowledge, “Circle” also signifies connecting people who share a passion for reading into a healthy community.
Therefore, BookCircle is not merely an online reading app built with React Native Expo and Node.js, but also a community of book lovers. This app allows people to exchange, borrow, and lend books, creating a vast shared library at a low cost. I hope that BookCircle will help many people, especially young people, have easier and more affordable access to books.
My motivation for creating BookCircle stems from my passion for reading and my desire to share it with others. I’ve noticed that reading not only broadens our knowledge but also nourishes our souls. I hope that BookCircle will help foster a love of reading within the community and create a space for people to share great books. And I’m fortunate that the app has already reached over 100 users since its launch. For someone just starting a new journey like me, this number is truly valuable.
